Pink Asus Eee PC S101H

Asus, the pioneer in the netbook field has put out several netbook models since the first Eee PC 701. And the latest in this line of Eee PCs is the S101H which was launched in October last year and is now available in our favorite color – you guessed it…Pink!! Those looking to buy this mega brand name’s latest offering will find this review very helpful.

Take one look at the Pink Asus Eee PC S101H and you can’t deny that fact that it looks sleek and elegant. What’s more it’s lightweight, magazine thin and beautifully crafted, making it a worthy addition to your electronic wardrobe. It’s exactly the kind of pink netbook that will earn you your neighbor’s envy. While it’s suitable for everyone that’s a part of the I-Love-Pink club, from school kids to hip youth to classy business executives, it can’t be denied that the Eee PC S101H does have a ‘corporate’ look about it.

Is Asus moving towards niche marketing? We wonder! Further underlining this corporate targeted move is the packaging. While previous models all came in white, shiny boxes with pictures of women on the top, the new pink S101H comes packed in a chic black box with a matte finish, and embossed with silver lettering. Open up the box and you find, not the usual clutter and elastic bands that were associated with the other packed models but a pleasing and meticulous look with every piece of paper and equipment neatly packed in place.  Take a look at the PC S101H’s case and you’re even more impressed! Gone are the neoprene bags with Velcro sleeves. The new cases have been fashioned out of leather and are stiffer, offering more protection. What’s more they come with a proper clasp. If all this doesn’t scream ‘Executive’ what does? Well, you might very well say, who says class is exclusive to corporate executives!

Enough about the looks though, I’m sure you’re getting impatient to find out about the features. You’ll be happy to know that this pink model is now smaller, lighter and thinner than all the previous models and that has been brought about by some clever reorganizing of innards and outwards.

The specs of this pale pink model include 10.2” display (1024 X 600 pixels), 1GB RAM (Extendable to 2 GB), a choice of Intel Atom N270 processor or the Intel 945GSE/ICH7-M, 160Gb hard drive (with an additional 10GB space made available online)and Windows XP home OS (GNU Linux versions also available). It comes with the requisite 3 USB ports, I Ethernet port (powered by an onboard 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet controller), 2 audio jacks, WLAN (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth, 4-in-1 MMC, SD, Memory Stick and MS-PRO flash card slot, 0.3 MP camera, built-in high quality speakers (hi-quality audio CODEC) and a Digital array mic.

The display, keyboard, touchpad and interface are excellent and get rave reviews from other users.

Weighing just 1.1Kgs, this superlight pink netbook boasts up to 5 hours of battery life while the Super Hybrid Engine manages power consumption optimally, based on usage.
